Community Celebration: Highlights from the Brookville Picnic

A Warm Welcome

We had such a fantastic weekend at the Brookville Picnic! The weather was mostly great, the food was amazing—thanks to What’s the Scoop, Tik Takos, and Louisiana Grill—and the vendors brought energy and creativity to the event. For our first year, everyone made us feel incredibly welcome, and we left feeling inspired by the community around us.

Our goal was simple: meet as many people as possible and share our passion and vision for Roll for Success. Everyone we spoke with was curious, kind, and supportive. The conversations reminded us why building connections within our community is so important. Thank you to everyone who stopped by to say hello! Each interaction helps us grow awareness that we are here and starting sessions soon.

Play, Storytelling, and Fun

What’s a community picnic without games and laughter? We introduced a new activity called “5-Minute DnD”. Participants chose from about 15 character options and experienced short encounters. These ranged from combat challenges to puzzles and social interactions. In just a few minutes, people could experience the excitement of tabletop role-playing games and witness the power of storytelling firsthand.

This simple activity sparked conversations, curiosity, and excitement. Many attendees told us how much they enjoyed seeing how imagination and collaboration can transform even a short experience into a memorable story.

Raffles and Celebrations

While not our main focus, we also held a raffle to support Roll for Success. It was rewarding to see the joy on people’s faces as they discovered potential prizes. Events like this show how our community can come together, not only to have fun but also to support our mission.

Recognition Give Us Our First Dungeon Delve

A Major Step Forward

We are thrilled to share an important milestone for Roll for Success! Over the weekend, our board of directors met to review our by-laws. After thoughtful discussion, the board voted to ratify the by-laws and approved moving forward with legal registration.

This morning, we received confirmation that our application for registration was accepted. This recognition marks a turning point. With legal status in place, Roll for Success can operate with greater clarity, transparency, and trust. It also positions us to engage partners, supporters, and funders with confidence.

Why This Matters

Legal recognition is not only a technical requirement—it creates real opportunities. We can now apply for grants more easily and pursue funding options that were previously unavailable. These resources will allow us to expand programs, serve more participants, and create safe spaces where play and storytelling promote resilience and growth.

At Roll for Success, we believe that shared storytelling changes lives. Tabletop role-playing games and other creative activities give people the chance to connect, imagine, and heal together. By becoming an officially recognized nonprofit, we now have the foundation to grow this mission into something lasting.

Gratitude and Next Steps

We owe this milestone to many people. Our board worked tirelessly to shape our vision. Supporters and community members encouraged us every step of the way. Without this dedication, Roll for Success would still be only an idea.

Looking ahead, our focus shifts to action. In the coming months, we will begin applying for grants, launch pilot programs, and build fundraising initiatives that sustain our work long-term.

Every organization has a beginning, and today marks ours in a meaningful way. Roll for Success now stands ready to grow, support more people, and bring connection to those who need it most.
